Cynergy Behind the Scenes: Bridging the Gap

On June 5th, get a Behind-the-Scenes perspective on just how the programs of Bridging the Gap operate and how they work to keep serving 3000 people each year. What communities does BTG serve? What happens to all those donated clothes? How do they get sorted, stocked, stored or salvaged? What if there is a shortage of diapers or laundry soap at Everyday Basics? How many volunteer hours does it take to keep everything running? Is the Warming Center open to anybody? What else does BTG do? And all sorts of other questions will be answered.
The mission of Bridging the Gap is to help people become the healthiest version of themselves by connecting them to basic needs and community resources and by providing opportunities for meaningful volunteerism and social connection.
Cynergy is patterning with United Way Emerging Leaders to bring you on a tour, speaker presentation, and other activities to see how Bridging The Gap is giving every person in our community the opportunity to thrive and live with dignity.
The BTS portion of the event will start at 5PM. Bridging the Gap is located at 209 Eastern Avenue in Augusta.
Basic Needs Drive
We will be collecting basic needs items from 4-5PM and we want you to join us! You can collect them prior to the event and drop them off when you arrive OR bring them to the Kennebec Valley Chamber any time before the event!
Here's what we're collecting:
- Toilet paper
- Feminine pads (similar to Always brand, regular)
- Shampoo (full size)
- Bar soap
- Toothpaste
- Diaper wipes
- Powdered laundry soap
- Diapers: Size 5 and 6
