This summer, Theater at Monmouth offers students in third through eighth grade the opportunity to dive into the world of William Shakespeare. From July 31st – August 18th students can transform into Shakespeare’s characters through voice and movement, unravel Shakespeare’s plays as text detectives, and perform for friends and family onstage at Theater at Monmouth. Choose from three, one-week sessions Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Each session culminates with a sharing for friends and family.

Students in grades 3 - 5, or “Groundlings,” will be introduced to Shakespeare’s stories through a variety of theatre games, art projects, and creative play. Three sessions are offered for Groundlings. Session A, A Midsummer Night’s Dream from July 31 – August 4; Session B, Romeo and Juliet from August 7 – 11; and Session C, Twelfth Night from August 14 – 18.

For older students in grades 6 - 8, or “Young Company,” TAM will guide students to become an ensemble so they can collaboratively perform a Shakespeare play. Participants will investigate how Shakespeare directs actor choices through the text, learn to create unique characters, and explore the art of unarmed stage combat. Three sessions are offered for Young Company. Session D, As You Like It from July 31 – August 4; Session E, The Tempest from August 7 – 11; and Session F, The Comedy of Errors from August 14 – 18,

Tuition for each session is $225 with a $25 discount for all registrations received by April 15th. There are discounts for registering for multiple sessions or siblings. Scholarships are available.
