The Maine Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Standards is hosting its no-charge safety courses for employers and employees throughout February. LePage. “These no-cost classes teach everyone how they can prevent work-related illnesses, injuries, and deaths. Courses are held at no charge to employers and their employees in the SafetyWorks! Training Institute at the Maine Department of Labor, 45 Commerce Drive in Augusta unless otherwise noted.

Vehicle Ergonomics --

This is a four-hour program designed to offer basic information on ergonomics for those who spend much of their day in a vehicle. Drivers face a variety of problems related to ergonomics, stress, job injuries, fatigue, and exposures. Program participants will have an improved understanding of the importance of proper driving posture, varying work activities, stretching and activity breaks, limiting exposures and how to make regular correct adjustments to driving positions. Participants will also explore wellness and self-care strategies to reduce stress and back/neck pain as well as improve energy levels. Class runs 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

About Our Classes: Classes are free, but you must register. If you register for a class and cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your seat to someone else.

Registration is on a first-come basis. Registration is limited to two people per company per class.

All participants receive SafetyWorks! certificates from the Maine Department of Labor. We can also deliver training at your workplace. Call 1-877-SAFE-345 for more information.
