"Networking and what 'I’ve learned along the way'"
Were you born with the “networking” gene? Most of us were not - and walking into a room full of people that you may not know well and starting a conversation with them can be intimidating and cause stress or anxiety. The word networking by definition is” the action or process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts” and although social media has diminished some of our personal interactions, many professional organizations consider face-to-face networking a requirement. Anita will share some of her career experiences that have helped her along the way to be more comfortable with who she is today and how that relates to her networking skills.
Anita is Chief Retail Officer for Kennebec Savings Bank and is primarily responsible for the overall management of Retail Banking focused on Customer Service, Business Development, and Wealth Management activities.
A career banker she began her profession as a part-time teller with Dirigo Bank during her senior year in High School. At Dirigo and at other financial institutions during her 40 year career, she had the opportunity to work in various areas of the banks and learned early on – that becoming a banker, regardless of the position, was extremely satisfying and rewarding and that both positive and negative work experiences can be growth opportunities – if you allow them to be. Anita graduated from the New England School of Banking, attended the University of Maine and has served on numerous Not-for-Profit boards during her career.
