Augusta Historic Preservation Commission and Augusta Fire Department, along with the Augusta Downtown Alliance and Colonial Theater, will be commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Great Augusta Fire of 1865 on Water Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with antique fire apparatus (some of
which fought the actual fire), demonstrations of firefighting from that era, display of a World Trade Center steel memorial, talk and photos about the history of the fire, a firehouse chili cook-off, open house at the Colonial Theater, and touch a truck event on Front Street for kids.
